How the Connections evaluation and testing program works:
- If the problem concerns your child, we meet with you and your spouse, then with your child in a non stressful environment.
- We interview, with your permission, other family members, teachers, your family medical doctor or pediatrician, your child’s coach, your pastor or rabbi.
- We observe your child interacting with others in his or her school environment.
Why We Never Jump to Conclusions.
The obvious answer may not always be the right answer! Our work is all about possibilities and the more information we have, the more treatment possibilities present themselves. Our experience has shown that the problems our patients come in with are rarely one-dimensional.
- What may look like Attention Deficit Disorder could be a sensory integration problem combined with a nutritional imbalance.
- Psychological issues may be masking an overlooked organic problem.
- Substance abuse isn't necessarily just about drugs or alcohol.
- Eating disorders are about a lot more than food.
- Falling grades? They could be caused by poor hearing or eyesight rather than anger.
- What manifests itself as disruptive, angry, and out of control behavior may be due to a chemical imbalance easily treated by medication
Then we summarize our findings and put together a comprehensive plan that may include:
- Psycho-Educational or Psychological Testing
- Psychopharmachology-medication therapy
- Speech and/or Audiology Evaluation
- NeuroPsychological Evaluation
- Family or Group Therapy
